This country kitchen was dark and dated with an older fluorescent light fixture serving as the primary light source. A new central skylight with a remote-controlled blind helps to control light in the now bright and sunny room. Recessed lights on dimmers provide supplemental lighting as well as create a relaxing atmosphere when meals are being enjoyed in the nearby dining area.
Pre-finished hardwood oak flooring complements the existing flooring in the home. Granite countertops with an undermounted stainless steel sink give this hard-working kitchen an updated yet timeless look.

The existing cabinetry was reconfigured to allow for better traffic flow. The former peninsula cabinetry formation was repurposed to create an island. By working with the existing cabinetry and crown moulding in the room, the owners were able to stay within their budget and still afford to upgrade the countertops, lighting and flooring, for a whole new look.
